Collect Bauhaus

This exhibition leaves the beaten museum path to ask the question: what has become of Bauhaus’s original works?
As well as the objects themselves, I am also particularly interested in their relationships with people. How did collector’s pieces find their way into the hands of their current owners, and how are they now used?

During the project, it became clear that the art market for Bauhaus objects is small and not particularly accessible. The vast majority of original works are owned by museums in Weimar, Dessau and Berlin. The few objects circulating on the market are snapped up quickly and then disappear into warehouses or collectors’ homes. In any case, these objects are now far removed from Bauhaus’s former dictum of making things for everyone, and have become expensive collector’s items. As a final addition, I set reproductions of Bauhaus objects within imaginary rooms.
